AC Milan Calling For Beckham

David Beckham's career has always been under intense scrutiny but not always for footballing reasons. His celebrity lifestyle and iconic status mean that every decision he seems to make about his career has far deeper implications. His recent loan switch to AC Milan has been no different and now he finds himself at the center of even more media speculation.

At the time of writing this, Beckham remains on loan at AC but is set to return to his parent club, LA Galaxy at the end of the month. His impressive performances for the Italian giants have put him firmly back in the picture regarding his England prospects. The player has made no secret of the fact that he wants to continue representing his country at the highest level for as long as he possibly can and if this remains the case, he surely wants to remain in Milan for longer than this initial brief spell.

Fabio Capello has also been public in declaring he will only pick Beckham (or any other player for that matter) if they're match fit and playing regularly for their club. With the American soccer season not coinciding with the European leagues it means Beckham is always likely to be left out in the cold at least for a few months, hence the reason for his short term loan to Milan. However, now he is in Europe and performing so well on the big stage, Beckham must surely recognise that to keep his career on the path he wants, there is little choice but to campaign for a permanent move to Italy.

The tabloids and gossip magazines will always say that Beckham doesn't make decisions purely based on his football career (as his move to the US certainly demonstrates) but I believe he will make the right decision in this instance.

AC Milan Shirt to Be Beckham's Last?

By Thomas Baugh
The AC Milan football shirt is the fifth David Beckham has worn at club level (if you include his brief loan spell with Preston) and it seems no matter where goes, the media circus follows.

David Beckham is never far from the limelight, he is a model professional with a driven desire to be the best footballer he can be. That much shows from his determination to become England's most capped outfield player hopefully surpassing that of former legend and World Cup winner Sir Bobby Moore.

It looked like it was going to be the end for the man they call Golden Balls when he was surprisingly dropped by Steve McLaren upon becoming England manager. It was the sign of things and changes to come for the three lions. With young emerging talent on the wing in the likes of David Bentley, Aaron Lennon, Theo Walcott and Ashley Young it seemed the legs of Beckham were set for retirement.

After he stepped down as England captain many thought they would never see him in an England shirt again, but he changed all that. Some fans called for him to be selected again as many forwards were missing those pinpoint crosses and fans were missing those trademark free kicks.

Beckham has sat on the sidelines and worked hard on his fitness, and he has done everything a true professional should and for that he must be commended. He has never moaned or complained and he has taken all the criticism on the chin. He has been rewarded by new boss Fabio Capello with a number of performances and he moves over closer to that record landmark of caps.

It is unlikely he will reach Peter Shilton who still holds a mammoth 125 caps but I'm sure he will pass Sir Bobby and take his place amongst England folk law as one of the games and England's greatest ever players.

Beckham Will Past Bobby Moore's Record

Capello didn't put Beckham for England match against Germany, November last year. In that period, Major League Soccer had finished.

During the two-and-a-half year wait to make his League debut, he collected a runners-up medal in the 1993 FA Youth Cup (United lost to Leeds in the final) and a reserve team championship medal in 1994. He also played five matches on loan for Preston North End, scoring two goals for the Lancashire club.

Beckham's English Premier League debut eventually came at home to Leeds United on April 2, 1995. Partially as a result of injuries to key starters, Beckham established himself in the first team during the1995/96season.

At the end of the season Man United walked away with their second Double.

The springboard that launched Beckham's famous career came during the 1996/97 season.David Beckham was compared to Pele when he scored his most famous goal - from the halfway line against Wimbledon at Selhurst Park. He went on to earn his first senior cap for England, on September 1, 1996 against Moldova in Kishinev.

Beckham's match-winning performances during 1996/97 helped United to win another Premiership title and reach the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League. On a personal level, he was voted Young Player of the Year and second in the overall Player of the Year poll. di 00:36 0 komentar Link ke posting ini Label: beckham, david beckham Minggu, 2009 Januari 18 David Beckham Poster

Italia Serie A Soccer - AC Milan Lost Another Key Game

By Ally White
The 17-time champion of the Italian Serie A, the AC Milan, lost again another important game in the Italian Serie A after, being defeated for team Sampdoria 2-1 on Sunday. With this defeat, AC Milan is getting away from the top team Inter Milan, who has now 60 points. Currently AC Milan has 48 points, 12 points away from Inter and 5 points away from the second place Juventus, which has 53 points. Also, with this result, some critics' doubt that AC Milan could even battle for the Scudetto this season, but Coach Ancelotti still has a hope for his team.

During these past two weeks, the results of AC Milan haven't been positive; first losing against Inter Milan 2-1 on week 24 of the season, then exiting the UEFA Cup in the Round of 32 against Werder Bremen with an overall score of 3-3 (with the away goal rule in favour of the German squad) and now losing against the 14th place Sampdoria 2-1.

As well, there's some rumours about that Carlo Ancelotti is in risk of getting replaced at the end of the season; however, the owner of the AC Milan franchise, Silvio Berlusconi, has expressed that the job of Ancelotti is safe for now, especially since he knows that the manager is dealing with injuries in some key players and as a result the positive outcomes have not been easy to accomplish.

Nevertheless, Carlo Ancelotti is sure that his team will get better these following weeks as he expects that players like Kaka, Ronaldiho and some others will come back to the field.

"It is no doubt a difficult moment, but I am sure that things will get better soon. As soon as we recover our injured players and get a chance to train adequately, we will get back on track. I think it will take a couple of weeks but you will soon see a very different side," stated Ancelotti.

Another concern for the AC Milan is the departure of the English midfielder David Beckham, who is leaving on March 9th to reunite with his team, the LA Galaxy. The retention of the midfielder has been a constant drama these past weeks in Italy, due to the fact that he was becoming an important part of the AC Milan late success and they want him to stay, however LA Galaxy did not want to make any negotiations over his player and now the superstar Beckham has to leave to comply his contract with the MLS team.

Despite all these difficulties, AC Milan players, Coach Ancelotti and the franchise are hoping that things will get better, so they can achieve their only and last objective, which is obtaining the third place of the standings at the end of the season to get a berth in the Champions League.

The next game of AC Milan in the Italian Serie A will be against Atalanta on Sunday March, 8th at San Siro and the hopes are set in having several injured players back in the field. This also will be a special day as this will be David Beckham's last game with the "Rossoneri".

AC Milan is sinking, Ancelotti: 'I am not a scapegot', Berlusconi: 'It's not a tragedy'

Ancelotti is serene despite the defeat. The AC Milan coach assumed his responsibilities and said to Sky Italy: "I do not feel like a scapegoat, nor does the club make me feel this way: I am solely responsible for this. It is not a bad moment, it is just a moment in time that must pass by. I am sure that in two weeks, when important players will recover, everything will look different. I am sure that we will end this season as we did last year. We’ll qualify for the Champions League".

The coach also answered two questions on Kaka and Nesta to Rai: "To those who say that Kakà will go away, I answer that he will stay: AC Milan is not as “old” as they say, I have players of great reliability. Nesta? For the difficulties that we had this year he would have been very useful. There is no controversy on Ronaldinho, he is injured at the moment. Only AC Milan counts for me, all the rumors around are not relevant".

Meanwhile Berlusconi commented from Brussels: "We shouldn’t consider this a tragedy, a negative season may happen. It’s a shame because we have so many champions. Shame, shame, shame”.
