Milan dismiss sale report

AC Milan have denied speculation that they have held discussions with Abu Dhabi United Group over selling a 40 per cent stake in the Serie A club.
Reports in Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera claimed on Tuesday that the Manchester City owners had demonstrated an interest in buying a share of Milan, with the report suggesting an offer of €500 million (£441m) could be in the offing.
However, Milan, owned by Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, have dismissed the report outright, insisting that negotiations have not taken place.
A statement said: "In relation to what has been published this morning in Corriere della Sera about a possible sale of part of the club, (holding company) Fininvest and AC Milan announce that the news is without foundation."
A Fininvest statement said: "Fininvest Spa, which controls AC Milan, denies in the most categorical manner press speculation concerning possible changes to the football club's assets. This is a journalistic hypothesis without any basis."
Milan and City hit the headlines during the winter transfer window when the latter launched a reported £100million bid for Brazilian star Kaka.
But talks over a world-record transfer broke down as Kaka opted to remain at San Siro.

MILAN, Italy (AP) — AC Milan has denied a report that the Abu Dhabi United group will purchase 40 percent of the club.
Milan and club president Silvio Berlusconi's Fininvest holding company issued a joint statement saying that "the news has no basis."
Italy's leading newspaper, Corriere della Sera, reported Tuesday that after failing to purchase Milan playmaker Kaka, Abu Dhabi United had switched its focus to buying part of Milan. The paper did not cite any sources, but said the offer would be $640 million.
Last month, Kaka rejected a reported $145 million-plus transfer offer from Manchester City, which is controlled by Abu Dhabi United.
"Fininvest Spa, which controls AC Milan, denies in the most categorical manner press speculation concerning possible changes to the football club's assets," the company said. "This is a journalistic hypothesis without any basis."

Milan - Bila Carlo Ancelotti sudah bersiap-siap untuk melupakan scudetto, pascakekalahan dari Inter Milan, maka tidak demikian dengan para pemainnya. Para punggawa AC Milan menyatakan siap bertempur hingga akhir.

Milan dibekuk Inter 1-2 dalam laga yang berlangsung Senin (16/2/2009) dini hari WIB. Hasil ini membuat Paolo Maldini dkk tertinggal sebelas poin dari Inter yang menjadi pemuncak klasemen sementara. Ada pun kompetisi Seri A masih menyisakan
14 partai lagi.

Pelatih Carlo Ancelotti menyatakan sebaiknya Milan melupakan scudetto musim ini dan fokus ke kejuaraan lain. Pendapat ini didasari oleh jarak poin yang sedemikian jauh.

Namun para pemain Il Diavollo Rosso tidak sependapat. "Kami kecewa dengan hasil ini, karena kami gagal memanfaatkan kesempatan yang dimiliki," tutur Gianluca Zambrotta pada situs resmi Milan.

"Tentu saja, sebelas poin merupakan ketinggalan yang cukup jauh. Namun, masih ada kesempatan untuk menyusul sebelum kompetisi berakhir. Yang paling penting adalah bertarung hingga akhir," tambah eks pemain Juventus dan Barcelona ini.

"Kami banyak kehilangan poin di sejumlah laga. Kami akan menemukan jalan untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut. Kami harus bermain baik seperti yang kami lakukan di paruh kedua musim ini," tukas Zambrotta.

Pendapat senada juga diungkapkan gelandang Clarence Seedorf. "Kompetisi liga belum berakhir. Kami harus realistis bahwa kami ketinggalan cukup jauh, sebelas poin. Namun kami harus tetap berusaha menggapai hasil tertinggi, lalu mari kita lihat apa yang terjadi," ucap Seedorf.
